Michael Bolton
It was in 1980 that Michael Bolotin resumed as a solo performer under the new name Michael Bolton that also became his first album’s title under Sony Records. The album was, however, not commercially successful. Year 1987 saw Bolton’s first success as a solo artist as his album ‘The Hunger’ became commercially successful. The album contained the ballad ‘That’s What Love is All About’. This was eventually followed by a huge success in 1989 when his album ‘Soul Provider’ won the nods of the market and a respected music award-giving body. The album contained the hit ‘How Am I Supposed to Live Without You’, among others. Not only a commercial success, the song won a Grammy award. The string of success continues in the 90’s as Bolton released another hit-containing album ‘Time, Love and Tenderness’. The album featured Bolton’s outstanding rendition of ‘When A Man Loves A Woman’ which became another hit. In 1992, Bolton recorded ‘Timeless- The Classics’ which contained Bolton’s remarkable interpretation of ‘Yesterday’ and ‘White Christmas’. 1995 was another fruitful year for Bolton as his album ‘Greatest Hits- 1985-1995’ conquered the charts and the market. In 1996, Bolton released his much-anticipated Christmas album ‘This is the Time- The Christmas Album’ wherein he collaborated with the renowned tenor Placido Domingo for the song ‘Ave Maria’. Having sealed his name in the music industry, Bolton went on to conquer the big screen by singing Disney’s ‘Go the Distance’ for the movie ‘Hercules’ and working on the soundtrack of the movie ‘Only You’. Bolton also collaborated with music producer/singer Babyface for his RnB-inspired album ‘All that Matters’. A versatile singer, Bolton also went on to record his own Arias of operas that showed his impressive vocal range, working alongside tenor Luciano Pavarotti. The album became a big hit on the classical charts. Being a successful musical performer, Bolton is never one to rest his laurels.
