CARLOS REYES
The Paraguayan born, multi-talented, Carlos Reyes has been breaking musical barriers since the tender age of five, when he made his first public performance. Besides being a recording artist Carlos is a producer, engineer, harpist and violinist.
The father of Carlos, a musical and national hero in his native country of Paraguay, began the musical education of his son at the age of three and a half. A few years later his father encouraged Carlos to learn the complicated 36 string native Paraguay harp. To many Carlos was already considered a child prodigy and took up the challenge of learning the instrument with great endeavour. His family moved to the USA where Carlos continued to pursue his musical interests.
Carlos managed to buy his first harp for $50 at the age of ten and only two weeks later he performed his first professional harp concert in San Fransisco receiving a double encore and $250. Beside the harp Carlos has also learned to play many different instruments including Guitar, Bass, Mandolin and Keyboards.
He has played harp with the Oakland Symphony and made his debut on the violin with the Oakland Youth Symphony at just fourteen years of age. As a teenager Carlos made instrumental background music for the acclaimed children's shows "Sesame Street" and Villa Alegre" and regularly creates music for commercials besides developing his solo career. He has backed such artists as Chuck Mangione, Bill Evans, Clark Terry, Pat Travers, Narada Michael Walden and many more. Recently returning from a short tour in Europe and representing Paraguay at the worlds fair "Expo 2000 Hanover" he was received with standing ovations and given a Gold Medal from the Vatican for his musical contributions.
Harp, Love & Passion features wonderful versions of some of the most beautiful love songs.
