Relaunch of Album: ‘Over the Rainbow’

2008/04/25. Sitting proud alongside Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne, Akon, Alicia Keys and Timbaland, Connie Talbot climbs the charts!

Internet traffic measurement Vidmeter reveals Connie’s place in the Top Ten most viewed music video clips as 10th in the world (http://top100.vidmeter.com/?c=8). Across clips of every in genre, including music, film and TV, Connie is ranked at an impressive 33. With 32 million viewings, and an average of 70,000 people watching her clips a day, these figures come as no surprise. The public first met Connie 10 months ago, when she came 2nd in the UK based talent show ‘Britain’s got Talent.’ Hype for the 2007 show may have died down, but Connie’s popularity continues to grow - and not only in the UK…over 70% of the world wide traffic originates from overseas, with the vast majority emanating from North America.

The world wide interest in Connie is so strong, that it has resulted in her being offered TV performances across the globe from ‘Larry King Live’ and ‘The Martha Stuart Show’ in North America, to ‘The People of the Year Awards’ in Germany, and popular prime time TV shows in Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong.

Hong Kong was the first of our international licensees to release Connie’s album. Interest was so strong that in Christmas 2007, her album charted at no. 6 in the combined Local and International charts. An impressive achievement in a country that didn’t broadcast ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’

Connie is a phenomenon and much beloved for her peerless vocal talent and her heart-warming persona. A normal, lovely little girl from the West Midlands, England, she melts the hardest of souls with her angelic voice. The media are understandably, and evidently, besotted by her talents and her story.

Although her parents Gavin and Sharon were initially reluctant to give their precious daughter to the glare of celebrity, it was clear that little Connie Talbot was born to sing and perform. Not fazed by live performances and TV appearances, Connie takes everything in her stride. She has already claimed 2 UK records, according to the Guinness Book of Records, for the youngest artist ever in the charts, and the youngest to receive a Gold disc.

Connie Talbot Coming to Hong Kong

2008/04/25.At seven years old, adorable Connie Talbot is an unlikely candidate for media fame, yet in the autumn of last year, she swept the British media with her beguiling voice and cherubic manner to placing her in the hearts of the nation.

Her debut album swiftly went gold in the run up to Christmas as fans wanted to hear her innocent pure voice. Connie stopped traffic during the BBC’s Children in Need appeal when her sweet voice rung through the crowd, GMTV were besotted by the 3’ 9” crystal-clear pint sized singer, while on This Morning Philip and Fern presented her with her gold disc after she sung Happy Birthday to The Royle Family’s Liz Smith!

It’s a far cry from Connie’s first appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, where a happy little girl walked confidently on stage to an initially unimpressed Simon Cowell; unimpressed before Connie began to sing and then we got to see the impossible… Simon Cowell’s heart melting. Her performances on the show (where she eventually came a close second to Paul Potts) have so far gleaned an incredible 35 million youtube plays from across the world.

It was clear to all that little Connie Talbot was born to sing and perform and with care, love and caution, her parents Sharon and Gavin have done the undoable… proving that it is truly possible to still grow up as a normal little schoolgirl in the West Midlands, whilst releasing music, shooting videos, receiving gold discs, signing cds and getting to meet Phil and Fearn!

Her new track is a stunning rendition of Bob Marley’s ‘Three Little Birds’ which perfectly captures Connie’s carefree spirit and youthful joie de vivre; b-side - the classic ‘You Raise Me Up’, is performed with a moving poignancy that will gently break the heart.

The sun-dappled video for ‘Three Little Birds’ was filmed in Jamaica during the Talbot family’s Easter holiday – the perfect setting for this glorious Marley song, which, through Connie’s rendition, zings with the cherished joy of youth on a happy sunshine drenched day – a cherished snapshot of childhood re-visited for all us older and grizzlier types and a life-affirming reminder, lest we forget, that life can be rather lovely.

Biography

Connie was born on November 20, 2000 & she lives in Streetly, in the West Midlands of Britain. Connie is best known as the gap toothed 6 year old who stole the nations heart when she stepped out on stage and sang solo in front of the judges of 'Britains Got Talent’. She has been singing since she was 18 months old. The song she is most known for, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, was the song she performed at her grandmother’s funeral at three years old.

Video Clips

She initially wanted to enter Britain's Got Talent so that she could sing in front of Simon Cowell and make people happy too. After seeing Simon Cowell in Africa on American Idol she decided that if she was to win she would like to donate all the money to the kids in Africa. She managed to achieve two of those wishes after touching the heart of Simon Cowell and the nation as a whole.
Connie never had singing lessons of any kind, so you can truly say that she has a 100% natural God given talent. Her voice has so many different ranges & she can sing with perfect pitch and is cute at the same time. At this point in time she is already being told she’s going to be the next Charlotte Church.

After taking second on “Britain’s Got Talent”, Connie signed with Simon Cowell and Sony BMG. Unfortunately, shortly after recording her first single, the label dropped her because she was too young. After the split, Simon Cowell said, “My views on Connie have NOT changed. I think she’s a wonderful talent. But I was persuaded by everyone at Sony BMG that she is just much too young to be embarking on a recording career. When the time is right I will be delighted to see if we can make it work. My views on Connie are still exactly the same. She’s an amazing little girl with a beautiful voice.”

Since then, the record label Rhythm Rainbow created offshoot Rainbow Recording Company specifically to sign Connie. Her album with the new label features 12 all-time favorite songs, including “Somewhere over the rainbow”, “Imagine”, “I have a dream” and “White Christmas”.
