The Rolling Stones "Stones In Exile"

On 14 June 2010, Evolution will release in S.E. Asia “Stones In Exile” by The Rolling Stones [Cat. No. EVOD080]. In the spring of 1971 The Rolling Stones reluctantly departed the UK to take up residence in France. Keith Richards settled at a villa called Nellcôte in Villefranche-sur-Mer and this became the venue for the recording of much of the band’s masterpiece “Exile On Main Street”. “Stones In Exile” tells the story in the band’s own words and through extensive archive footage of their time away from England and the creation of this extraordinary double album, which many regard as the Rolling Stones’ finest achievement.

This title features contributions from all the band members: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. Also featured are contributions from: Martin Scorsese, Jack White, Don Was, Caleb Followill (Kings Of Leon), Benicio Del Toro, Will.I.Am (Black Eyed Peas), Sheryl Crow, Anita Pallenberg, Ronnie Wood, producer Jimmy Miller, engineer Andy Johns, photographer Dominique Tarlé and sax player Bobby Keys.

BBC TV broadcast the main 60 minute show on Sunday May 23rd but the “Stones In Exile” DVD features extensive additional footage including interviews with all the band members. The DVD also offers bonus footage of Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts returning to Olympic Studios and to Jagger’s country house Stargroves where a lot of the early work on the album was done.

“Stones In Exile” is a fascinating and entertaining document lifting the lid of the creation of a truly timeless album. This release will be followed by release of the fully restored legendary Exile tour film “Ladies And Gentlemen…The Rolling Stones” in Autumn 2010.

Legendary English guitarist Jeff Beck picked up his fifth career Grammy Award at the 52nd Awards presentation at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles on January 31st 2010. He was presented with the Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for his version of the Lennon & McCartney classic “A Day In The Life” taken from his critically acclaimed live set “Performing This Week…Live At Ronnie Scott’s”, and is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
